Manchester United sanction £80 million transfer offer for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane

Manchester United have ‘sanctioned’ an £80 million transfer offer to Tottenham Hotspur for England international Harry Kane, according to the Daily Star.

The Red Devils are ready to make an approach for Spurs’ talisman. Erik ten Hag sees the 29-year-old as the Old Trafford side’s top priority next summer.

To that end, the Manchester-based club’s CEO Richard Arnold has approved a deal for Kane. It seems the hierarchy has no intention of waiting until the end of the season to start negotiations for the forward.

Apart from United, the England international is also attracting interest from other European heavyweights. Premier League rivals Chelsea are also eyeing him, while Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and La Liga leaders Barcelona have the striker on their radar.

However, Ten Hag is keen for the Red Devils to begin talks as soon as possible. The Dutch manager believes the 29-year-old is the final piece in the puzzle to help the Old Trafford side challenge for titles next season.

Kane’s current contract with Tottenham is set to expire in the summer of 2024. The striker is also due to turn 30 in the coming months. However, apart from a few individual accolades, silverware has eluded him at the North London side.

Ten Hag lacks depth up top with Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst. The gaffer has had to rely on the Burnley loanee in the last few months due to the French national’s fitness issues. With the Holland international in the starting lineup, the Dutch manager has gone on to win the Carabao Cup.

We are also still alive in the FA Cup and the Europa League. The Red Devils also look set to finish in the top four. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what the former Ajax head coach will be able to achieve with England’s record goalscorer at his disposal.

Over the years, Kane has proven to be a prolific goalscorer. Even though the 29-year-old’s contract is running down, it remains to be seen whether Spurs will accept a relatively low offer for their striker.
