Inter Milan ‘offered’ Manchester United and Sweden defender Victor Lindelof
Manchester United have ‘offered’ out-of-favour Sweden international Victor Lindelof to Serie A giants Inter Milan, according to Tuttosport via FCInterNews (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils seem to be open to parting ways with the 28-year-old. After losing his place in the team this season, the defender is also looking to leave the Old Trafford side for pastures new.
To that end, his representatives have already touched base with the Nerazzurri about a potential deal. It remains to be seen whether the Italian outfit will opt to pursue the centre-back’s signature in the upcoming transfer window.
Lindelof signed for United in the summer of 2017 from SL Benfica. In the last few campaigns, the Swedish national had been a regular member of the Red Devils’ starting lineup.
However, since Erik ten Hag’s arrival, the defender has found game time hard to come by. He has started in just five matches in the Premier League this term.
Inter have the likes of Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni at their disposal in the centre-back positions. Simone Inzaghi can also call upon Francesco Acerbi in the backline.
At the moment, summer 2022 signing Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are the manager’s preferred partnership in the defence. The Argentine and the France internationals have been solid for most of the season.
Therefore, it looks like a challenging task for Lindelof to make his way back up in the pecking order. Thus, it would not be a surprise to see the centre-back leave the club next summer to kickstart his career elsewhere.

The Sweden international is still in his prime physical years. There is no guarantee that the 28-year-old will be a starter elsewhere. However, most fans would evidently not feel hard done by if he decided to end his chapter in Manchester.
