Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone not bothered by transfer rumours amidst Manchester United links
Manu Kone, who plays for Borussia Monchengladbach, has revealed that he is not bothered by the transfer rumours amidst Manchester United being linked to the midfielder.
The France U21 international is seen as one of the most promising prospects in the Bundesliga. As a result, a number of top clubs, including the Red Devils, are interested in the 21-year-old’s signature.
Speaking to Le Parisien (h/t Manchester Evening News), the youngster admitted that he was not concentrating on the speculation around his future. The Gladbach star is focused on the present for now.
“At the moment, I am in Monchengladbach. I live well with rumours, I don’t pay attention to everything that is said. It’s more my entourage and my friends who send me the articles.
“It’s a source of pride for them to see my name associated with big clubs, but it doesn’t make me hot or cold. I prefer to finish my season quietly. Afterwards, what must happen will happen.”
In the upcoming transfer window, United are looking to add a young midfielder to the squad. To that end, the Red Devils have Kone on their radar.
The French national made his way to the Bundesliga in the summer of 2021. Subsequently, the youngster immediately established himself in the German side’s starting lineup.
In the current campaign, the 21-year-old has been a key player for Gladbach. He has made 24 appearances in the league for them, starting in all but one fixture for Daniel Farke’s team in the Bundesliga.
United bolstered their engine room in the summer of 2022 with the addition of Casemiro from Real Madrid and Christian Eriksen. The two have been pivotal to Erik ten Hag’s plans at the Old Trafford side.
However, the Red Devils seem to lack quality in depth in the middle of the park. The likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have been inconsistent at the club over the years.
