Borussia Dortmund plan new contract for teenage Manchester United target

Borussia Dortmund ‘planning’ to offer Jude Bellingham new contract amidst Manchester United interest

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are ‘planning’ to offer Jude Bellingham a new contract amidst interest from Manchester United, according to German outlet Bild (h/t The Sun).

The Signal Iduna Park side are keen on keeping a hold of the England international for one more season. To that end, BVB are proposing a massive 150 per cent increase in the youngster’s salary, which would see him earn up to £13 million a year.

Dortmund would also include a release clause worth £131 million

in the new deal for the 19-year-old. As a result, the Red Devils would have to bide their time to acquire the midfielder’s services.

At the moment, Spanish giants Real Madrid are leading the race for Bellingham. In the Premier League, the Old Trafford side’s rivals, such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, are also eyeing the England international.

The 19-year-old made his way to the Signal Iduna Park side in the summer of 2020 from Birmingham City. In Germany, he immediately broke into BVB’s first team and has since developed into a fine prospect.

The midfielder has also established himself in the Three Lions’ setup as of late. After shining at the 2022 World Cup, the youngster also started in Gareth Southgate’s team against Italy and Ukraine in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

At the moment, Bellingham has a host of clubs pursuing him. Considering the 19-year-old’s talent, it would not be a surprise if the other teams waited for him if the youngster extended his stay at Dortmund.

The England international is already a leader at BVB. Edin Terzic has handed the midfielder the captain’s armband on a number of occasions this season.
