Prolific striker on Man United radar to stay put at PL rivals next summer on one key condition

Manchester United target Harry Kane could stay at Tottenham Hotspur for Mauricio Pochettino

Manchester United target Harry Kane could decide to stay at Tottenham Hotspur if they reappoint Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Antonio Conte recently parted ways with the North London side. As a result, the Lilywhites are looking for someone to succeed the Italian manager. To that end, they could turn to a familiar face.

At the moment, Kane’s future is uncertain. The England international has been linked with a move to the Red Devils, with Erik ten Hag identifying him as a top target.

But if Pochettino were to return to Spurs as the head coach, the 29-year-old would be inclined to stay. The striker thrived and developed at a rapid rate under the Argentine.

Together, Kane and Pochettino spent five years together at Tottenham. With the former Paris Saint-Germain head coach managing Spurs, they played some attractive football. In the 2018/19 season, the North London side also reached the Champions League semi-final but lost 2-0 to Liverpool.

However, after a poor start to the following campaign, the Argentine was relieved of his duties. Subsequently, serial winners like Jose Mourinho and Conte have taken charge of Tottenham but have not been able to end their trophy drought.

Over the years, Kane has performed season after season for Spurs. He has been prolific regardless of the team’s overall performance. The 29-year-old also became the Three Lions’ record goalscorer with his penalty versus Italy in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Under Erik ten Hag, United look to be going in the right direction. We won our first trophy in six years after winning the Carabao Cup final. The Dutch manager also has us in a good position in the top-four race and the Red Devils are still alive in the Fa Cup and the Europa League.

While Pochettino’s arrival could be enticing for Kane, there is no guarantee that the Argentine will bring silverware to North London. As for the Old Trafford side, we have proven under Ten Hag that we can go all the way in cup competitions.
