Chelsea ‘willing’ to spend £100 million for Manchester United target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen

Premier League rivals Chelsea are ‘willing’ to spend £100 million for Manchester United target and Napoli star Victor Osimhen, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Red Devils are looking to bolster their forward line. To that end, the Old Trafford side have the 24-year-old on their radar. Although, the Manchester-based club’s top choice is Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.

However, if United were to pursue the Nigeria international’s signature in the upcoming transfer window, they would have to compete with the Blues, who are ready to come calling for the striker’s services.

Graham Potter’s team have made a lot of additions to the forward line over the last two transfer windows. Last summer, Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were signed.

In January, the Stamford Bridge side did not stop their spending spree. They went ahead and got David Datro Fofana, Mykhaylo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix to bolster their attack.

However, Chelsea have seemingly struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis in the current campaign. Their top goalscorer is Kai Havertz, who has scored nine times in all competitions.

Osimhen has proven himself in the current campaign. The Nigerian has been prolific for Napoli. The Serie A giants are set to get their hand on the league title for the first time in over three decades.

As for United, we evidently lack a quality number nine in the team. Anthony Martial has been injury prone this season. On the other hand, Wout Weghorst is a backup at best.

Therefore, the Old Trafford side could do with someone like Osimhen in their ranks. However, we can also not let Chelsea further strengthen their ranks by signing the 24-year-old.
