Bayern Munich loanee Marcel Sabitzer ‘happy’ to stay at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag

Marcel Sabitzer, who is on loan at Manchester United from Bayern Munich, would be ‘happy’ to stay with Erik ten Hag at the Old Trafford side.

The Austria international joined the Red Devils on a temporary move in the previous transfer window until the end of the season. However, the Manchester-based club do not have the option to get him on a permanent basis.

Therefore, the Bavarians and their new head coach Thomas Tuchel will have to decide where the 29-year-old’s future lies. The midfielder had already closed his chapter with the Bundesliga giants when Julian Nagelsmann was in charge. Things will be made more clear in May or June.

Sabitzer made a name for himself in Germany with RB Leipzig. At the Red Bull Arena side, he enjoyed a fruitful spell and developed into a quality playmaker.

Subsequently, after six successful seasons with Die Roten Bullen, the Austrian signed for Bayern in the summer of 2021. However, during his time with the Bavarians, the midfielder was unable to find regular game time.

The 29-year-old struggled to cement his place in the Allianz Arena side’s starting lineup. In the current campaign, he started in just seven matches in the Bundesliga for the German giants.

Sabitzer’s arrival to United was pivotal. He added quality in depth to the Red Devils’ squad. With Christian Eriksen on the sidelines for some time now, the Austrian has deputised admirably.

The 29-year-old was in action for his national side against Azerbaijan recently and got a brace, including a sublime free-kick, and provided an assist in the 4-1 win. Ralf Rangnick’s team are set to face Estonia next.

Sabitzer will seemingly be important for the Old Trafford side going into the next fixtures with Casemiro suspended. Hopefully, he will return from international duty without any niggles. It remains to be seen whether the Manchester-based club will sign the Austrian next summer.
