Victor Lindelof to evaluate Manchester United future next summer

Manchester United star and Sweden international Victor Lindelof has revealed that he will evaluate his future at the club in the upcoming transfer window.

The centre-back has found game time hard to come by at the Old Trafford side since the arrival of Erik ten Hag in the dugout. The Dutch manager has preferred Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the backline.

Speaking to the media via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the 28-year-old expressed his desire for more minutes on the pitch. To that end, the defender will look at his options next summer.

“I want to play, that’s why I play football, but I don’t think about that — this summer, we will analyze situation and we’ll see what’s best.”

In the previous transfer window, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Serie A outfit Inter Milan were interested in Lindelof. However, Ten Hag was not keen on parting ways with the centre-back in January and rejected all approaches.

The Sweden international signed for United in the summer of 2017 from SL Benfica. Over the years, he had been a pivotal player at the Old Trafford side. But the defender has seen his influence dwindle this season.

In the current campaign, the 28-year-old has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. However, he has started in just five Premier League games under the former Ajax head coach.

United signed Martinez last summer from Ajax. Ten Hag has put a lot of trust in the Argentine, which has been repaid. The 25-year-old has added stability to our defence.

He has formed a solid partnership at the Old Trafford side along with Varane. The two World Cup winners have started the majority of the fixtures together for the Red Devils.

Therefore, it would not come as a surprise if Lindelof decided to leave United in the upcoming transfer window for pastures new. However, it remains to be seen what the Swedish national will decide.
