Tottenham Hotspur ‘interested’ in Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson

Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur are ‘interested’ in a move for Manchester United shot-stopper Dean Henderson next summer, according to ESPN (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The 25-year-old is on loan at Nottingham Forest at the moment. But in the upcoming transfer window, he is expected to part ways with the Red Devils.

The England international’s current contract with the Old Trafford side is set to expire in the summer of 2025. However, Spurs will pursue his signature if the Manchester-based club decides to sell the goalkeeper. The Lilywhites have an ageing Hugo Lloris and Fraser Forster in their ranks.

Apart from the Man United shot-stopper, the North London side also have Everton’s Jordan Pickford on their radar. But the 29-year-old signed a new deal with the Toffees recently and is only likely to leave if the Goodison Park side are relegated.

Henderson made his way through the youth ranks at the Old Trafford side. After impressing at Sheffield United during his two-year stint on a temporary move, the English national returned to Manchester.

Subsequently, the 25-year-old competed with David de Gea for a place in the starting lineup. The two shared minutes in the 2020/21 season. However, the Spaniard became the undisputed number one once again in the previous campaign.

Now, Henderson is at Forest. The goalkeeper has enjoyed regular minutes at the Tricky Trees. However, an injury has kept him on the sidelines in the last few weeks, with on-loan shot-stopper Keylor Navas filling in.

For Now, De Gea is Erik ten Hag’s first choice in between the sticks. The 32-year-old is only backed up by Tom Heaton and Jack Butland in the squad.

We could evidently do with more competition for the Spaniard in the squad. Therefore, it would be wise to keep a hold of Henderson. But it remains to be seen what the future holds for the 25-year-old.
