Manchester United will need to ‘table an offer’ of £132 million in the upcoming transfer window to compel Napoli to sell Victor Osimhen, according to Italian outlet Il Mattino (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Partenopei have no intention of parting ways with the Nigeria international next summer. However, the Red Devils have identified the 24-year-old as a target to bolster the forward line.

Osimhen made his way to Naples in the summer of 2020 from French outfit LOSC Lille. After a couple of decent seasons with the Serie A giants, the striker has taken his game to the next level in the current campaign.

Luciano Spalletti’s team are flying high at the moment. They have a considerable lead at the top of the table and are on course to win the Scudetto for the first time in over three decades.

Napoli have also done well in the Champions League so far. The Italian side will face fellow Serie A giants AC Milan in the quarter-finals of the prestigious competition.

The Nigerian has been pivotal to the Partenopei’s success this term. He has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Naples-based club, scoring 25 goals and providing five assists.

In the current campaign, Erik ten Hag has had to rely on Marcus Rashford to find the back of the net. The 25-year-old is the Red Devils’ leading goalscorer under the Dutch manager.

Apart from the England international, the former Ajax head coach has not been able to rely on another attacker to contribute consistently in the final third. The gaffer also has only two natural strikers in Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst.

Therefore, we evidently need to strengthen the front line next summer and add a prolific goalscorer to the team. However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will spend a considerable sum to bring Osimhen to the Theatre of Dreams.
