Manchester United make contact for AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi about summer transfer
Manchester United have ‘held talks’ with the representatives of AS Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi about a move in the upcoming transfer window, according to Foot Mercato (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils had a meeting with the France international’s camp ‘two weeks ago’. However, at the moment, a number of teams have an eye on the defender’s signature.
Apart from the Old Trafford side, other top clubs are interested in the 25-year-old. Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also looking to acquire his services.
Disasi joined Monaco from Stade Reims in the summer of 2020. Since then, the defender has been a key player for the Red and Whites.
In the current campaign, the French national has been impressive. He has made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
The 25-year-old also featured for Les Bleus in the 2022 World Cup. He made a few appearances for Didier Deschamps’ team in the right-back position.
For now, Erik ten Hag has an abundance of talent in the backline. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been the Dutch manager’s preferred duo in defence for United in the current campaign.
As a result, the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have found game time hard to come by. Our captain and the Sweden international have lost their influence since the arrival of the former Ajax head coach. The two have been relegated to the bench this season.

Therefore, it would not come as a surprise if Maguire or Lindelof decided to leave the club next summer for more opportunities elsewhere. In that case, Disasi looks like a decent option to reinforce our backline.
