Erik ten Hag confident Manchester United will cope without Casemiro despite “huge impact”
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is confident that Manchester United will be able to cope without Casemiro for the next few fixtures despite his “huge impact”.
The Brazil international picked up a red card in the game against Southampton in the Premier League. It was the 31-year-old’s second straight red of the season. As a result, the defensive midfielder is set to miss the Old Trafford side’s next four domestic matches.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag has admitted that Casemiro is an important member of the team. However, the gaffer has faith in the other players who will deputise in the middle of the park.

“We had many more games without Casemiro… We did really well without Casemiro against Arsenal, Leeds and also at the start of the season but I want to have Casemiro available, He has a huge impact on our game.”
The 31-year-old signed for United in the summer of 2022. Initially, the Dutch manager slowly integrated the midfielder into the starting lineup.
However, since the Brazilian’s first start in the Premier League against Everton, he has become essential to Ten Hag’s plans. The former Real Madrid star has been ever-present in the lineup since.
Earlier in the campaign, Casemiro picked up a red card against Crystal Palace. He subsequently missed some crucial games for the Red Devils against the likes of Leeds United and Leicester City.
Prior to that, against Arsenal at the Emirates, the Brazilian was suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards. We went toe-to-toe with the table-toppers but, unfortunately, lost 3-2.
Ten Hag has Scott Mctominay and Fred in his ranks. United also signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich in January. The Austrian is back from injury after missing the last few fixtures prior to the 1-0 win over Real Betis.
