Real Madrid ‘join’ Manchester United in race for Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus
Spanish giants Real Madrid have joined Manchester United in the race for Ajax star and Ghana international Mohammed Kudus, according to Defensa Central (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Los Blancos are interested in the 22-year-old versatile attacker. However, the Red Devils are also monitoring the youngster’s situation in Amsterdam.
Erik ten Hag has previously worked with Kudus during his spell in the Eredivisie outfit’s dugout. The Dutch manager feels the Ghanaian has the attributes to shine in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old was signed by De Godenzonen in the summer of 2020. However, under Ten Hag, the forward mostly played a bit-part role at the Johan Cruyff Arena side.
However, in the current campaign, Kudus has taken the mantle at Ajax. He has been the main outlet for the Amsterdam-based club this season. The Ghanaian has made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie outfit, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists.
The 22-year-old also shone for the Black Stars in the 2022 World Cup. He scored a brace against South Korea in the group stages. But the African nation were unable to qualify for the knockout rounds in Qatar.
United signed two players from Ajax in the summer of 2022. Lisanro Martinez and Antony reunited with Ten Hag in Manchester. The Argentine centre-back has made a considerable difference in the Red Devils’ backline.
As for the Brazilian winger, he has had a mixed spell at the Old Trafford side so far. However, the 23-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent and possesses a lot of potential.
