Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are interested in Napoli striker and Manchester United and Arsenal transfer target Victor Osimhen, according to Italian sports journalist Nicolo Schira on Twitter (h/t The Sun).

The Parisians have entered the race to acquire the Nigeria international’s services. However, the 24-year-old is a sought-after player, with Premier League rivals Chelsea also eyeing him.

Christophe Galtier’s team currently have the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar in the front line. However, the Parc des Princes side leaves a lot to be desired with the lack of depth in the attack.

PSG only have Hugo Ekitike in their ranks as a relatively established backup forward. While the Parisians look on course to win the Ligue 1 title, they were knocked out of the Champions League round of 16 second year in the running this season.

As for Arsenal, they are flying high in the English top flight. Mikel Aretat’s team are first in the league table, five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. In Gabriel Jesus’ absence, the Gunners had to rely on Eddie Nketiah up front.

Osimhen was signed by LOSC Lille when current PSG football director Luis Campos worked there. After impressing in France, the Nigerian made his way to Napoli after just one season.

In the current campaign, the 24-year-old has been in fine goal-scoring form. Luciano Spaletti’s team are also on course to lift their first Serie A title in over three decades.

United evidently lack depth in the number nine position. The Red Devils had to sign Wout Weghorst on loan in January to add cover for Anthony Martial in the team, who has been injury prone in the current campaign.

Osimhen has shown his productivity in front of goal. Hopefully, the Old Trafford side will be able to trump PSG and others in pursuit of the Nigerian and get a hold of his signature next summer.
