Bruno Fernandes is confident about Manchester United bouncing back after the heavy defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

The Old Trafford side took on Jurgen Klopp’s team on Sunday (5 March) in the Premier League. However, it was a bad day at the office for the Red Devils as the Merseysiders scored seven goals past us.

Speaking after the 7-0 loss to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), the Portugal international admits that the team did not perform well. However, the 28-year-old is adamant that the club have what it takes to achieve success.

“We can go down but we have to get back because we know how good we are and today we didn’t perform. This team is really good and this team can do really good things but today was not the case and I’m sure we can still do great things.”

In the reverse fixture, United got the better of Liverpool. On the day, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford got on the scoresheet to hand us a 2-1 victory.

Unfortunately, the Red Devils have suffered a damaging loss at Anfield. The first half was encouraging. It was closely contested as both teams had their respective opportunities in front of the goal.

However, just before the break, Cody Gakpo gave the Merseysiders the lead. Klopp’s team came out all guns blazing in the second half with quick-fire goals from Darwin Nunez, with the Holland international subsequently getting his brace.

Then, Mohamed Salah piled on our misery. Along with Nunez, the Egyptian also got a brace before Roberto Firmino scored the seventh goal past David de Gea in the 88th minute.

The Old Trafford side looked shaky for the first time since the end of the 2022 World Cup. We have been in fine form. However, Liverpool managed to get the better of us in an emphatic fashion.

In some instances, when the game looked out of sight, Fernandes’ attitude left a lot to be desired as he did not put in a considerable shift and often did not track back. Erik ten Hag managed to steady the ship after the 4-0 loss to Brentford at the start of the season. Hopefully, the Dutch manager will be able to do the same now.
