Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister namechecks Manchester United amidst transfer speculation
Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton & Hove Albion namechecked Manchester United when asked about his future transfer plans.
The 24-year-old has been tipped to look for a move away from the Seagulls in the upcoming transfer window. Premier League rivals Chelsea and Italian giants Juventus are interested in the Argentina international.
Speaking to Gaston Edul of TyC Sports (h/t The Sun), Mac Allister does not have any preference on what the next team in his career will be. However, the midfielder prefers a stay in the English top flight.
“The truth is I don’t have a team in particular where I say they suit my way of playing. Manchester United are returning a bit to what they were and Liverpool are having ups and downs but have still got a very important team and coach.
“If you ask me, I’d like my next step to be in the Premier League.”
The 24-year-old made his way to Brighton in the winter window of 2019. In the previous campaign, the Argentine established himself as a starter in the East Sussex-based club’s starting lineup.
In the current campaign, Mac Allister has taken his game to the next level. He has made 22 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls, finding the back of the net seven times.
The 24-year-old also shone at the 2022 World Cup. Argentina made it all the way and lifted the prestigious trophy in Qatar as the midfielder played a pivotal role
for them.United signed Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer of 2022. Over the course of the season, the two have become key players for Erik ten Hag.
However, both of them turned 31 last month. The Denmark international also suffered an injury in January. Subsequently, the Red Devils got Marcel Sabitzer on loan to bolster the middle of the park.
