Manchester United yet to begin ‘concrete talks’ with Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong
Manchester United are yet to begin ‘concrete talks’ with Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong over a transfer move, according to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have not held a discussion with the Bundesliga outfit either up until this point. However, the 22-year-old remains on the Old Trafford side’s list.
But no initial approach has been made as of yet for the Holland international. Therefore, nothing is in the advanced stages as of now in regard to the defender’s possible signing by the Manchester-based club.
News #Frimpong: He‘s still on the list of #MUFC as revealed. But contrary to other reports there are no concrete talks between ManUnited & his management at his stage. No negotiations with Leverkusen.

As for Frimpong, he is keen to take the next step in his career and go to a Champions League outfit. The 22-year-old’s current contract with the Bay Arena side expires in the summer of 2025.
The Holland international was previously in England, making his way through the youth ranks at Manchester City. However, he subsequently left for Celtic.
Then, Leverkusen came calling for the full-back’s signature in January 2021. In the current campaign, he has thrived at the Black and Reds, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 30 appearances in all competitions.
At the moment, Diogo Dalot is the preferred option in the backline for United. The Portuguese has been Erik ten Hag’s first choice in the starting lineup in the current campaign.
Also, the Dutch manager can call upon Aaron Wan-Bissaka. In recent weeks, the 25-year-old has made the most of his chances. In the Carabao Cup final, he came on at half-time in place of Dalot and made a difference.

However, the England national has fallen down the pecking order at the Old Trafford side. Thus, if the former Crystal Palace star were to look for pastures new, Frimpong seems like a decent option to bring in to bolster the right-back position.
