Marco van Basten feels Mohammed Kudus a better player than “confused” Manchester United forward Antony
AC Milan and the Netherlands icon Marco van Basten feels Ajax star Mohammed Kudus is a better player than “confused” Manchester United forward Antony.
The Red Devils signed the Brazil international in the summer of 2022 from De Godenzonen. However, the 22-year-old has so far had a mixed spell at the Old Trafford side.
Speaking to Ziggo Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Van Basten, who also played for Ajax, is of the opinion that the Ghana international, who Erik ten Hag is an admirer of, has more quality than Antony.

“I find Mohammed Kudus a much better football player than Antony. Antony has his skills, but he is confused with the things he is trying to do.”
The Brazilian got off to a good start in Manchester. In his first three Premier League appearances, the 22-year-old scored consecutive goals.
The former winger of the Eredivisie outfit has cemented his place on the right wing under Erik ten Hag. However, since the fast start, the forward has struggled to have a considerable impact at United.
But the gaffer has still shown faith in Antony. In the current campaign, the forward winger has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, finding the back of the net five times and providing one assist.

As for Kudus, he has broken into Ajax’s first team this season. Last term under Ten Hag, Ghanaian was a bit-part player. However, he has now taken the mantle at De Godenzonen. It remains to be seen whether the 22-year-old will make a move to the Theatre of Dreams in the future.
In the current campaign, the gaffer has relied on Marcus Rashford to get him the goals. The 25-year-old has been reinvigorated with the arrival of the Dutch manager in United’s dugout.

Hopefully, Antony will slowly but surely find his feet in Manchester. Due to the Brazilian’s massive price tag, expectations from the forward might be a bit skewed. However, for now, all we can do for the 22-year-old is give him time and confidence.
