Arsenal and Manchester United have ‘spoken’ with agent of Barcelona forward Ansu Fati
Manchester United and Premier League rivals Arsenal have both ‘spoken’ to Jorge Mendes, the agent of Barcelona star Ansu Fati, according to Spanish outlet Cope (h/t The Sun).
The Red Devils, along with Mikel Arteta’s team, are interested in acquiring the 20-year-old’s services. At the moment, the Old Trafford side are leading the race to land the Spain international’s signature.
Even though the two English top-flight giants have spoken with the forward’s representative, a move could prove tricky. His current contract with the Blaugrana expires in the summer of 2027.
Fati’s existing deal also includes an £898 million release clause. However, the youngster is unhappy at the moment. As a result, United and the Gunners have sounded out their admiration for him.
Arsenal have a number of potential superstars in their forward line. The likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka have been electric this season. However, Arteta’s team look light up front, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah the only natural number nines.
The Barcelona forward made his way through the famous La Masia academy. Subsequently, the 20-year-old made an immediate impact at the Camp Nou side.
However, injuries have hampered Fati’s development. In recent weeks under Xavi, the Spain international has found game time hard to come by. The 20-year-old’s performances have not been up to par this season either.
At United, Erik ten Hag evidently needs a striker, with Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst the only two options the gaffer can call upon for now. The Holland international is at the club on loan until the end of the campaign.

While Fati is capable of playing down the middle, he has not been consistent in the last few months. Therefore, for now, it would be wise for the Old Trafford side to pursue a proven goal-scorer before adding the potential of the Spain international to the squad.
