Manchester United handed transfer blow as Joan Laporta squashes Ansu Fati transfer rumours
Manchester United fans have been dealt a blow with the recent announcement from Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who has quashed any exit rumours surrounding young sensation Ansu Fati.
The Spanish forward has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months, but Laporta has made it clear that he is not for sale. He admitted that Fati has a huge future at the club and they have high hopes for him.
Ansu Fati has been a standout talent for Barcelona for so many seasons now, despite his young age. He has made a name for himself with his lightning pace, clinical finishing, and creative abilities and for having a calm head on such young shoulders.
Laporta has made it clear that Barcelona will not be entertaining any offers for the player, stating that they are “not thinking of selling Ansu Fati as of now, he’s loved here”. This will come as a disappointment to Manchester United fans, who were hoping that Fati could be the solution to their attacking problems.
This sends a message to all potential suitors that Barcelona are not a selling club, and that they will not be letting their best young players leave easily. Fati has been earmarked as the long-term heir to Lionel Messi.
Injuries have been Fati’s biggest nightmare in the past couple of seasons. He is still yet to rediscover the kind of level he used to show before all those injuries and this could be one of the reasons he is yet to be a prominent member of Xavi’s team.
Speaking about the player and his future at the Catalan club as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, here is what Laporta had to say about Fati’s chances.
“We are not thinking of selling Ansu Fati as of now, he’s loved here — then I cannot predict the future. His agent told us there are clubs keen on signing Ansu Fati, yes”
It was anyways a far-fetched dream right from the beginning that one of the clubs would be able to sign Ansu Fati. It would have been very surprising to see him leave Barcelona and the president has just emphasized on that.
