Napoli set £133 million price tag on Manchester United target Victor Osimhen
Serie A giants Napoli have set a massive £133 million price tag on their star striker Victor Osimhen amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Il Mattino (h/t The Sun).
The Red Devils, along with Premier League rivals Chelsea, are just some of the top European sides looking to acquire the forward’s services. However, the Old Trafford side have already made contact with the Partenopei for the Nigeria international.
United got in touch with the Italian outfit in the previous transfer window to get ‘in pole position’ for the 24-year-old’s signature. However, the Naples-based club were not interested in parting ways with him.
Napoli are currently at the top of the Serie A table. They are on course to win their first Scudetto in 33 years in the current campaign.
Osimhen has been a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s team. The forward has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Partenopei this season, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists.
The Nigeria international signed for the Italian outfit in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. While the 24-year-old was decent in his first two campaigns, the striker has taken his game to the next level this term.
At United, Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure left a void up front. As a result, Wout Weghorst was signed on loan in January as a short-term replacement for the 38-year-old.
Anthony Martial is the other natural number nine at Erik ten hag’s disposal. However, the France international has had issues with injuries. As a result, Marcus Rashford has had to shoulder the burden of the Red Devils’ attack this season.
