Manchester United Set to Compete in the New Season of eFootball Championship Pro

There will be eight top teams competing in the 2023 eFootball Championship Pro, comprising Manchester United.

The contestants for the eFootball Championship Pro 2023 have been revealed by Konami, one of the most well-known video game developers. Big names like FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich are on this list along with the “Red Devils”.

One of the most significant eSports simulation football prize events on the globe now accessible, as well as one of the most popular sports simulation video games for betting operators , is the eFootball Championship Pro, in which a total of eight clubs will compete.

The Tournament Line-Up

Other renowned and significant European football teams, such as Arsenal (Premier League), AS Roma (Italian Serie A), AS Monaco (French Ligue 1), AC Milan, and Inter Milan from Serie A, will also participate in addition to Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and Bayern Munich. Actually, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, AS Roma, and 2022 champions AS Monaco are also re-summoned to the competition.

The first of seven matchdays between these sides will begin on February 11, 2023. Unlike the tournament’s 2022 iteration, matchdays will be stretched out over four months in what Konami calls “a more progressive league format” before the elimination stage decides the champions.

Format for the eFootball Championship

The eFootball Championship Pro follows a structure in which each team must have a roster of three eSports players. On Saturdays, teams will compete against one another in a round-robin format. As we previously stated, this event will begin on February 11 and last through June. There will be three 1v1 matchups during the regular season.

However, the “Dream Team” game mode must be used for all games. In real football, a win earns three points, a tie awards one point, and a defeat awards zero points. The same scoring will be applied here. The best-of-three format will be used for the knockout stage, which will feature the top six of the league.

The following is the complete matchday schedule:

Regular Season

  • Matchday 1: February 11, 2023
  • Matchday 2: March 4, 2023
  • Matchday 3: March 18, 2023
  • Matchday 4: April 8, 2023
  • Matchday 5: April 22, 2023
  • Matchday 6: May 13, 2023
  • Matchday 7: May 27, 2023

Knockout Stage on June 24, 2023.

Who Represents United in the Tournament

  • Kilyan “Kilzyou” Faucheux

He’s a French Street Fighter player who also entered the Professional Pro Evolution Soccer/eFootball scene, being the 2020 eFootball Championship Pro champion.

  • Lofti “Lotfi” Derradji

Another Frenchman. He’s the former pro eFootball player of AS Monaco and Celtic, double champion of the eFootball Championship Pro (2019 and 2020).

  • Lucas “Nekza” Lorge

Guess what? He’s the third Frenchman on the United squad. He established himself as a shooting star, making his debut at this level last year with AS Monaco.

The Games Will (Finally) Take Place on LAN

Events for the 2023 eFootball Championship Pro will take place in a LAN setting to mark the first such occasion since the Covid-19 outbreak ravaged the globe, i.e. after three years. Specifically, they’ll take place at Konami’s Barcelona facility. According to the statement, the well-known marketing firm “Adrenal1ne”, which manages the tournament, has provided all the facilities.

Additionally, this location features a training facility for the athletes and a VIP room for managers and visitors.

Prize Money

The actual amount of prize money that each team will receive depends on where they finish the season in terms of rankings. Additionally, each player will receive a unique gift, including the most significant, among others:

  • The Goal of the Day
  • Regular Season MVP
  • Knockout Stage MVP

Giveaways for Fans by Konami

Konami will be offering two separate gifts to supporters of the eFootball Championship Pro 2023.

First off, between February 11 (12:00 UTC) and February 16 (01:59 UTC), users that watch Matchday 1 on YouTube using the CP banner established in-game can get 2,000 eFootball points.

Second, there’s the Victory Giveaway, where supporters can win authentic club memorabilia based on how well clubs perform in the competition. Information about this will be shared on the club’s social media platforms, online, and on eFootball.

Recent Issues with Simulation Video Games

It’s no mystery that simulation games, particularly football games, have had difficulty attracting a loyal following. Nevertheless, FIFA and eFootball have indeed been able to best build their eSports ecosystems.

For FIFA 23, FIFA made certain improvements to its eSports environment last year. On the other hand, eFootball announced another eSports event with important Italian clubs like Inter Milan and AC Milan.
