Erik ten Hag reveals Anthony Martial has not been 100 per cent fit this season for Manchester United
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that Anthony Martial has not been 100 per cent fit for the club at any moment in the current campaign.
The France international is set to miss the 21st fixture of the season out of the Red Devils’ 35 when they take on Leeds United in the Premier League. Even when the 27-year-old has featured, he has not been able to play the full 90 minutes.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag disclosed that the former AS Monaco star has suffered different injuries during the five times he has been sidelined.

“No, every time in different areas. At the minute, it is his hip. He is not always available, but also I see the other side when he is available. He was never 100 per cent this season but he had a big impact every time he is available, even when he is at 80, 85, 90 per cent.”
In the previous campaign, Martial struggled to find his feet at the Old Trafford side. Subsequently, in January 2022, he joined Sevilla on loan. However, the forward’s fortunes in La Liga were no different.
Upon his return to Manchester last summer, the France international was given an opportunity during pre-season and thrived. Subsequently, the 27-year-old became the Dutch manager’s preferred number nine.
Unfortunately, the striker suffered his first setback of the campaign during the friendlies. As a result, the former Monaco star missed the start of the season.
Since then, Martial has tried to make a comeback several times. Unfortunately, fitness issues have hampered his game time and integration into Ten Hag’s plans.
However, when the forward has featured under the Dutch manager, he has made an impact. In 14 appearances in all competitions in the current campaign, the French national has scored six goals and has provided two assists.

Hopefully, the striker can get over his injuries soon. At the moment, Wout Weghorst, who signed for Man United on loan from Burnley in January, is the only natural striker at the gaffer’s disposal.
