Erik ten Hag ‘monitoring’ FC Utrecht midfielder Taylor Booth for Manchester United
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is ‘monitoring’ FC Utrecht star and American national Taylor Booth, according to the Daily Mail.
The Dutch head coach is one of the midfielder’s admirers. Ten Hag has strong ties with the Eredivisie outfit. He used to be a player and the manager of the Cathedral Citizens.
As a result, the gaffer is well-informed about the 21-year-old currently plying his trade at Utrecht. The youngster has been impressive so far in the Netherlands. English scouts have been impressed by his technique, energy and contribution in the final third.
Booth made his way through the youth ranks at Bayern Munich. The youngster made just one appearance for the Bavarians in the 12-0 thrashing of Bremer SV in the DFB-Pokal.
With the 21-year-old’s contract expiring, the Bundesliga giants were keen to hold on to him. However, the American decided to instead sign a pre-contract with Utrecht and joined them in the summer of 2022.
At the Eredivisie outfit, Booth has thrived. The 21-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Cathedral Citizens in various midfield and forward roles, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
United’s current engine room evidently lacks strength in depth. Apart from losing players to injuries, most of our midfield stars are not relatively young.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, who have been our two main players under Ten Hag, will turn 31 this month. On the other hand, Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek have not been able to cement their place in the starting lineup over the years.

Therefore, the Red Devils evidently need to add fresh blood in the middle of the park. We already have some gems like Zidane Iqbal in our ranks. Now, it remains to be seen whether Booth will be part of the Old Trafford side in the coming future as well.
