Erik ten Hag confirms Marcel Sabitzer involvement for Manchester United against Crystal Palace
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Marcel Sabitzer will be involved against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
The Red Devils will take on the Eagles on Saturday (4 February) at home. In the reverse fixture, the Old Trafford side dropped points at Selhurst Park after Michael Olise’s superb free-kick in stoppage time.
However, going into the match, United have some issues in the middle of the park. The Red Devils will be without the likes of Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay. Subsequently, the Old Trafford side signed Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News ahead of the game against Palace, Ten Hag hinted at the Austria international playing a part in the match.
“Of course, he did only one session but you can see he’s a very fit player and I didn’t have different expectations coming from Bayern Munich, German, their fitness is always good. I think he is ready to play.
“I think he’s a really smart player and I think we gave him some guidance but he knows what to do, he knows the job.”
The 28-year-old has been a great talent in the Bundesliga over the years. However, since the midfielder’s move to the Bavarians, he has found it difficult to make a considerable impact.
However, Sabitzer is a quality superstar. During his time at RB Leipzig, the Austrian was one of the best in his position. Therefore, the midfielder’s addition to the Red Devils’ squad is evidently wise.
Casemiro and Fred are the only two other established players fit enough at the moment to be deployed in the engine room. The 30-year-old has been one of our best players this season.
Alongside Eriksen, the former Real Madrid star has formed a brilliant partnership in the middle of the park. Therefore, the Denmark international’s absence will evidently be a big blow.
