Manchester United “not afraid” of £107 million asking price for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen
Manchester United are “not afraid” of the £107 million asking price that Napoli have put on their star striker Victor Osimhen.
Along with the Red Devils, Chelsea are also pursuing the 24-year-old’s signature. The two Premier League giants are not fussed by the Serie A giants’ demands to part ways with the Nigeria international.
As reported by journalist Emanuele Cammaroto on Napoli Magazine (h/t Manchester Evening News), the Old Trafford side and Graham Potter’s team are eyeing Osimhen. Napoli are also looking for potential replacements if the striker leaves.
“Chapter Osimhen: Manchester United and Chelsea are not afraid of the amount that Aurelio De Laurentiis will ask, that is €120m (£107m). If the Nigerian striker goes to the Premier League, Giuntoli and his staff are already working on a couple of profiles.”
The Nigerian signed for the Partenopei in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. During his time in Italy, the 24-year-old has developed season after season into a better forward.
However, Osimhen has taken his game to the next level in the current campaign. In 20 appearances in all competitions, the striker has found the back of the net 15 times and has provided four assists.
Napoli are also flying high at the moment. They are currently at the top of the Serie A table, on course to win their first Scudetto in 33 years. The Partenopei were also excellent in the Champions League group stages.

United lost Cristiano Ronaldo midway through the season. As a result, the Red Devils had to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley to fill the gap the Portuguese left and provide cover for Anthony Martial.
Erik ten Hag has had to rely on the Holland international heavily due to the former AS Monaco star’s injury issues. The 27-year-old has been unavailable for most of the campaign, with Marcus Rashford being deployed as a striker on several occasions.
