Bruno Fernandes looking forward to taking Manchester United all the way in Carabao Cup

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes is looking forward to the Carabao Cup final after beating Nottingham Forest in the semi-final over the two legs.

The first leg saw the Red Devils beat the Tricky Trees 3-0. On Wednesday (1 February), the Old Trafford side took on Steve Cooper’s team in the second leg, winning 2-0.

We have now set up an exciting final against Newcastle United. The Magpies are flying high this season and are in the race to finish in the top four in the Premier League in the current campaign.

Speaking after the victory over Forest via the club’s official website, Fernandes expressed his joy at reaching the final. The Portugal international is raring for the opportunity to get his hands on some silverware.

“It’s a great feeling [to reach the final], amazing for everyone. We’ve been looking to be in this position for a long time and now we’re getting there.

“We’re enjoying the moment because it is a big thing; I know a lot of people will think ‘it’s just the Carabao Cup’ for many of them, the ones that are not in the final will think like that. But for us and Newcastle, it will be a big, big match and a chance to win a trophy and we will go there to try our best to bring it back.”

Man United were in a comfortable position after the first leg. Both teams created a few chances in the first half, but no one was able to break the deadlock.

At around the hour mark, Erik ten Hag brought on Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. Subsequently, the Red Devils started to look more threatening.

The France international got on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute. This season, the former AS Monaco star has struggled to stay fit on a consistent basis. However, the 27-year-old has made an impact whenever he has featured.

A few minutes after the first goal, the Old Trafford side doubled their lead. Fernandes executed a beautiful trivela pass to Rashford, who set up Fred to find the back of the net. The 28-year-old Portuguese has been the leader at the club under the Dutch manager.
