Manchester United ‘finalising’ list of players to sell in upcoming transfer window
Manchester United are ‘finalising’ the list of players to sell in the upcoming transfer window to fund new signings next summer, according to Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils have already identified several stars who the club feel are sellable. This is being done in order to comply with UEFA’s new financial sustainability rules.
Erik ten Hag is prioritising bringing a new striker in the upcoming transfer window. Also, a younger midfielder is on the Dutch manager’s agenda.
Cristiano Ronaldo departed United in November. The Portugal international’s untimely exit led to a shortage of number nines in the team. As a result, the Red Devils signed Wout Weghorst on loan in January to add support for Anthony Martial.
However, the Holland international is just a short-term solution. The 30-year-old’s temporary move from Burnley runs until the end of the season.
Martial has also struggled with injuries in the current campaign. The France international’s unavailability has forced the gaffer to play Marcus Rashford up top. This term, the 25-year-old has shouldered the burden of the club’s attack.
United’s engine room was bolstered in the summer of 2022 with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. However, the duo will turn 31 in February.
Fred and Scott McTominay are the two established midfielders backing up the former Real Madrid star and the Denmark international. Donny van de Beek is also a part of the Red Devils’ squad. However, the former Ajax star’s time in Manchester has been underwhelming.

Therefore, the Red Devils need additions in certain areas of the pitch. Other players like Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, McTominay and others have fallen down the pecking order. Thus, a summer exodus seems to be on the cards at the Old Trafford side.
