Manchester United ‘might’ pursue midfielder in light of Christian Eriksen injury

Manchester United ‘might’ make a late move for a midfielder in the upcoming transfer window in light of the injury suffered by Christian Eriksen, according to GiveMeSport (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Fred replaced the Denmark international just before the hour mark against the Royals. The Red Devils took on the Championship outfit on Saturday (28 January) in the fourth round of the FA Cup at home.

Casemiro scored a brace for the Old Trafford side in the second half, while his compatriot Fred scored the third of the night for us. However, the Royals were able to get one back, but in the end, we won 3-1.

Unfortunately, Eriksen was seen leaving the ground on crutches. It remains to be seen how long the 30-year-old will be out for. Although, it looks concerning for the former Tottenham Hotspur star.

Now, the Manchester-based club will wait to see the extent of Eriksen’s injury. Once United get a prognosis on the 30-year-old’s layoff, they will decide on whether to bring in reinforcements before the deadline day.

The Red Devils signed the Denmark international as a free agent in the previous transfer window. This season, the midfielder has surprised many with his performances in the middle of the park.

Eriksen has formed a brilliant partnership with Casemiro in the engine room. The duo have been Erik ten Hag’s preferred options in the midfield.

The Old Trafford side are seemingly a bit light in the middle of the park. Fred and McTominay are the only two established backups in the engine room, with Donny van de Beek out for the rest of the campaign with an injury.

Eriksen has been a pivotal player for the Dutch manager in Manchester. Therefore, if the Danish national is sidelined for an extended period, it would be wise to bring in a quality replacement for the 30-year-old.
