Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven have ‘asked’ for Manchester United star Anthony Elanga on loan in the ongoing transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

However, Erik ten Hag is not keen on parting ways with any of his players in January. But the 20-year-old is keen on making a temporary move this month, considering a lack of opportunities under the Dutch manager.

As a result, Ruud van Nistelrooy is open to bringing the Sweden international to the Netherlands. The former striker of the Old Trafford side, currently the manager of the Red and Whites, is looking to strengthen his squad.

PSV had to part ways with two of their star forwards in the ongoing transfer window. Cody Gakpo joined Liverpool, while Chelsea pounced on the signature of Noni Madueke.

As a result, the Eredivisie outfit have lost two of their main forwards in a short span of time. Van Nistelrooy now has only a couple of established attackers in Luuk de Jong and Anwar El Ghazi at his disposal.

Elanga has found game time hard to come by this season. The 20-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions. However, most of them have been off the bench.

In the previous campaign, the Swedish national had established himself in Ralf Rangnick’s plans. However, the Dutch manager has preferred the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho ahead of him in the pecking order.

The reason Elanga got a lot of minutes in the previous campaign was that most of our forwards were misfiring. However, Ten Hag has been able to bring the best out of the likes of Rashford, Anthony Martial and Garnacho.

Therefore, it does not look like the Sweden international will be handed many chances this term. Thus, it seems wise to let the 20-year-old leave on a temporary move for the time being to further his development.
