Roy Keane believes Brazil international Casemiro is “huge player” for Manchester United
Manchester United icon Roy Keane believes Brazil international Casemiro is a “huge player” for the Old Trafford side. The former midfielder has been impressed by the 30-year-old’s qualities.
The former Real Madrid star joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2022. Since then, he has been pivotal to Erik ten Hag’s plans in Manchester, ensuring our defence remains solid.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Keane, who spent 12 seasons at United, feels the Red Devils felt Casemiro’s absence in the loss to Arsenal. The 51-year-old waxed lyrical about him.

“He’s a huge player for them. We obviously saw at the weekend when he wasn’t playing [how United missed him]. He’s a big personality, has won the big trophies before. He affects games, is obviously very good defensively and pretty good on the ball, let me tell you.”
Initially, the Brazilian found it hard to get into the Old Trafford side’s starting lineup. Scott McTominay’s form led to the gaffer sticking with the Scotland international in the number six position.
However, after the 30-year-old’s first start in the Premier League against Everton, where he picked up the Man of the Match award, the former Madrid midfielder has been a constant in our engine room.
Subsequently, Casemiro has put in some brilliant displays and has won the fans over with his passion. The 30-year-old’s first goal for United came against Chelsea in stoppage time in the 1-1 draw.
Great performance by our team tonight!! See you in the 2nd leg!! 👊🏽🔴#MUFC #CarabaoCup pic.twitter.com/4RMUHw1irn

Prior to missing the game against Mikel Arteta’s team at the Emirates Stadium, the Brazilian national had started in the last 12 matches in the English top flight.
Ten Hag has managed to turn things around after a shaky start at United. Casemiro, along with Christian Eriksen, have formed the gaffer’s preferred duo in the middle of the park.
