Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is unsure when Luke Shaw will be back in action after missing the win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

The left-back was unavailable as the Red Devils took on Steve Cooper’s team at the City Ground on Wednesday (25 January). We ended up winning the first leg of the semi-final 3-0

Speaking after the match via the Daily Mail, Ten Hag was unaware of the extent of the 27-year-old’s absence. The Dutch manager is hopeful of getting a clearer picture in the coming hours.

“Difficult to say how that develops. We have to wait to see how that develops in hours and days.”

Shaw started the season off on a bad note. After the defeat in the opening two games, the England international was dropped from the starting lineup. Subsequently, Tyrell Malacia came into the fray.

The Holland international, who signed from Feyenoord in the summer of 2022, impressed in his initial outings for United. However, the former Southampton star earned his place back in the team after some impressive displays.

Shaw also had a fruitful time in Qatar with the Three Lions. He shone for Gareth Southgate’s team in the 2022 World Cup.

The England international has become an integral part of Ten Hag’s plans in the current campaign. In recent matches, the 27-year-old has also been deployed at centre-back and has done a decent job.

With the win over Forest, the Red Devils are one step closer to the Carabao Cup final. The Old Trafford side have a good shot at lifting silverware this season.

For now, our next fixture is in the FA Cup against Reading. It remains to be seen whether Shaw will feature against the Berkshire-based club. However, no disrespect to the Championship outfit, but we should be able to get past them without the left-back in the team.
