Manchester United held “conversations” with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund superstar Marco Reus recently. However, there is nothing concrete between the two parties.

The Red Devils had been linked with the Germany international. At the end of the season, the 33-year-old is set to become a free agent as his contract with the Bundesliga outfit expires.

Speaking to The United Stand on YouTube (h/t Manchester Evening News), transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed that Reus was a player being considered by the Old Trafford side. However, there have just been talks.

“I’m told it’s true that they had some conversations with the agents of Marco Reus. He’s one of the players they considered, they spoke to, so it’s true that they had some conversations, but at the same time, I’m told that at the moment, it’s not a negotiation.

“So Man United didn’t make any bid to Marco Reus, they are not in advanced talks to sign Marco Reus in the summer, so at the moment, it is still a quiet situation.”

The 33-year-old has been one of the best players in the world over the years. Unfortunately, injuries have hampered the German’s career.

Reus signed for BVB in the summer of 2012 from Borussia Monchengladbach. The attacker has consistently contributed to goals and assists for the Signal Iduna Park side.

But fitness issues have hindered the German’s influence and game time at Dortmund. In the current campaign, the 33-year-old has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring three goals and providing four assists.

Reus is a versatile player capable of playing in multiple attacking positions. He can play in the number 10 role as well as up front on the wings.

At United, Bruno Fernandes has cemented his place in the attacking midfield position. The Red Devils also have an abundance of talent out wide with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and others.

Therefore, the 33-year-old will seemingly find game time hard to come by at the Old Trafford side. However, the veteran does have a wealth of experience. As a squad player, under the right circumstances, the German is not a bad option for the gaffer to have at his disposal.
