Tottenham Hotspur target and AS Roma playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo ‘offered’ to Manchester United
Manchester United have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign AS Roma star and Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo, according to Italian outlet Area Napoli (h/t Express).
Spurs have been heavily linked with the playmaker. The North London side have already made an offer for the 23-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. Antonio Conte’s team have proposed to take the Italy international on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy.
Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal are also interested in Zaniolo. The 23-year-old is keen on making a move to the Premier League. However, he prefers a move to Spurs.
The Italy international has been an important player for the Giallorossi since his move from Inter Milan in the summer of 2018. However, injuries have hampered his career over the years.
It also looks like the attacking midfielder’s time in Rome is coming to an end. He sat out of the Serie A outfit’s recent matchday squad against Spezia as Jose Mourinho’s team won 2-0.
Conte currently does not have a lot of creative options in the middle of the park. Most of Tottenham’s midfielders are defensive-minded, apart from Rodrigo Bentancur.
As for United, Bruno Fernandes has been a constant for us in the starting lineup. The Portugal international has cemented his place in the Red Devils’ number 10 position.
However, apart from the former Sporting CP star, we seemingly lack adequate strength in depth in the middle of the park. While Christian Eriksen can also play as an attacking midfielder, the Denmark international has formed a decent duo with Casemiro in the engine room.

Zaniolo is someone who possesses quality and potential. However, fitness issues are a concern for him. Therefore, will the Old Trafford side opt to pursue the Italian’s signature? Only time will tell.
