Donny van de Beek ‘offered’ to Juventus by Manchester United for Weston McKennie
Manchester United have ‘offered’ Donny van de Beek to Serie A giants Juventus in exchange for USMNT star Weston McKennie, according to Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have made a proposal for a swap deal between the two in the summer of 2023. At the moment, the Holland international is out for the rest of the season with an injury.
Van de Beek has been mentioned as a makeweight during the discussions between the Old Trafford side and the Old Lady for the American international.
The Holland international signed for United in the summer of 2020 from Ajax. In the Eredivisie under Erik ten Hag, the 25-year-old established himself as a quality midfielder.
However, Van de Beek’s time in Manchester has been underwhelming. In the current campaign, he reunited with the Dutch manager at the Old Trafford side. Unfortunately, fitness issues have hampered the 25-year-old the chance to reignite his career.
As for McKennie, he has been a regular in Juventus’ starting lineup since moving from Schalke 04. However, the Old Lady have not been at their best over the years.
In the current campaign, Massimiliano Allegri had steadied the ship after a poor start. However, the Bianconeri have now been docked 15 points in
Serie A for alleged financial irregularities and false accounting.United’s engine room has been secured by the duo of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. However, we seem to lack quality options to bring on from the bench, with Fred and Scott McTominay the only other established players capable of being deployed in the defensive midfield and number eight position.

McKennie, 24, is still relatively young and has shown great potential. His performances in the 2022 World Cup were admirable. The American looks like a decent option to add some strength in depth in the middle of the park.
