Erik ten Hag believes Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho has the talent to make it to the top

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes that Alejandro Garnacho possesses the talent to make it to the top. The Dutch manager has been highly impressed by the youngster.

The 18-year-old has broken onto the scene at the Old Trafford side this season with his clutch displays. In the Red Devils’ recent fixtures, the Argentine national has come off the bench to great effect.

Speaking via Manchester Evening News (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), Ten Hag hailed Garnacho’s skills. The gaffer is of the opinion that only a few players can do what the 18-year-old does. However, the Dutch manager knows that the youngster can still improve.

“Garnacho can compete at the highest level. He has a skill that I don’t see many players in the Premier League having, he beats players one-on-one.

“There’s still room for improvement. He’s learnt in the last months about how to play in a team.”

The Argentine youngster signed for United in the summer of 2020 from Atletico Madrid. He caught a lot of people’s attention at the youth level for the Red Devils.

In the previous campaign, the forward was handed his debut against Chelsea in the Premier League in the 1-1 draw in April. The youngster also featured in the final league fixture of last season against Crystal Palace.

With Erik ten Hag’s arrival, Garnacho found game time hard to come by initially. However, after impressing in the Europa League group stage against Sheriff Tiraspol and Real Sociedad, the gaffer has put more faith in the 18-year-old.

Since then, the Argentine has made a considerable impact coming off the bench. He scored in stoppage time against Fulham at the Craven Cottage to hand us a 2-1 victory.

In the Manchester derby, the youngster’s substitution was followed by United’s comeback win. He gave the assist for Marcus Rashford’s winner against Pep Guardiola’s team.

Garnacho has been a surprise for many this season. It has also been much-needed, considering the lack of depth in our attack and the overreliance on Rashford in the current campaign. Hopefully, the Argentine will continue to make his mark at the Theatre of Dreams.
