Scott McTominay ‘worried’ about lack of game time at Manchester United amidst Newcastle United interest
Manchester United star Scott McTominay is ‘worried’ about his lack of game time under Erik ten Hag, with Newcastle United interested in him, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Metro].
The Scotland international is ‘widely liked’ by the Magpies. As a result, the 26-year-old is open to joining the Tyneside outfit to play for Eddie Howe. If the Red Devils indicate a willingness to part ways with the midfielder, the Toon will launch a bid for him.
Newcastle are flying high in the current campaign. They sit in third position in the Premier League at the moment. The Magpies can count on the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and others in the middle of the park.
Man United signed Casemiro in the recent transfer window. The Brazil international has established himself in the Dutch manager’s starting lineup.
Initially, McTominay kept the 30-year-old out of the team. The Scotland international’s form saw him pip the former Real Madrid star in the pecking order.
However, ever since Casemiro’s first start in the English top flight against Everton, the 26-year-old has found himself on the bench. The Old Trafford side’s academy graduate has not started in our last 11 league matches.
McTominay made his way through the youth ranks to the Red Devils’ senior team. In previous seasons, he was one of the first names on the club’s team sheet week in, week out.
But the current campaign has not been fruitful for the Scotland international. Christian Eriksen has also made a place for himself in Ten Hag’s plans. The former Tottenham Hotspur star has surprised many with the impact he has had in Manchester.

However, while McTominay has not played much in recent weeks, United need strength in depth, considering that we are alive in all four competitions. Also, Newcastle are our direct rivals in the race for a place in the top four. Therefore, for now, it would be wise to keep a hold of the 26-year-old.
