Memphis Depay ‘offered’ to Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur amidst Manchester United links
Barcelona star Memphis Depay has been offered to Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur amidst links to Manchester United, according to Daily Star (h/t Express).
The Magpies and Spurs have been handed the opportunity to acquire the Holland international’s services in the ongoing transfer window. Eddie Howe’s team have been earmarked by the forward’s representatives.
As for the Blaugrana, they are keen on getting as much money as possible for the 28-year-old this month. His current contract with the La Liga outfit expires at the end of the current campaign.
Newcastle are flying high in the Premier League at the moment. The Magpies are vying for a place in the top four this season. They currently have the likes of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak as strikers in the squad.
On the other hand, Tottenham have an abundance of talent in the attack. The North London side can count on Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison to get them goals. Yet, they are considered a possible destination for Depay.
Atletico Madrid are also keeping an eye on the Holland international’s situation at Barcelona. However, the Camp Nou side prefers to sell the 28-year-old to a club outside Spain.
Man United are also looking to bolster their forward line after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in November. But the Red Devils have signed Wout Weghorst on loan as a short-term solution.
However, Anthony Martial has had fitness issues in the current campaign. The France international was substituted at half-time against Manchester City. Thankfully, Marcus Rashford has stepped up to the plate this season.

Depay’s previous stint in Manchester was underwhelming. However, he has developed into a quality player since then. Newcastle and Tottenham are the Red Devils’ direct rivals in the top-four race. It will be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford side will opt to secure the 28-year-old’s signature to scupper the other two clubs’ chances.
