Manchester United ‘will not allow’ loanee Dean Henderson to play the Carabao Cup semi-final for Nottingham Forest
Manchester United ‘will not allow’ Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, to play in the Carabao Cup semi-final, according to Manchester Evening News.
The 25-year-old joined the Tricky Trees from the Red Devils on a temporary move in the summer of 2022. However, since a player on loan cannot play against their parent club, the England international will not feature in the semi-final.
Henderson was the hero for Steve Cooper’s team against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the quarter-finals of the cup competition. He made some brilliant saves during the game and saved two spot kicks in the penalty shootout.
The 25-year-old has overall had a decent time in West Bridgford. Erik ten Hag has also been impressed by the English international’s development. But the Old Trafford side are yet to decide on the shot-stopper’s future.
Henderson did not feature in the Premier League fixture against United that we won 3-0. Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred got on the scoresheet as Wayne Hennessey started in between the sticks.
The 25-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Forest in the current campaign. He has managed to keep five clean sheets in a team that has not been solid defensively.
Henderson made a name for himself previously on loan at Sheffield United before returning to the Old Trafford side. In the 2020/21 season, the shot-stopper shared minutes with David de Gea.
However, the Spaniard pipped the England international in the pecking order in the previous campaign. Subsequently, he hardly got any game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
