Watford ‘eyeing’ January loan move for Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri
Championship outfit Watford are ‘eyeing’ a loan move for Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri in the ongoing transfer window, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Manchester Evening News].
Slaven Bilic, the head coach of the Hornets, is ‘keen’ on bolstering his forward line. As a result, the Hertfordshire-based club are looking to bring Pellistri on a temporary move in their quest for promotion to the Premier League.
Watford are currently fourth in the Championship table. They have the likes of Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro up front. But other than the two, the Hornets do not have any other established forwards.

Pellistri signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 2020 from Penarol. After spending half a season at the Old Trafford side, he joined Deportivo Alaves on loan.
Subsequently, the Uruguay international went back to the La Liga outfit on a temporary move for the 2021/22 campaign. While he got ample game time in Spain, the youngster was underwhelming in terms of his contribution in front of goal.
The 21-year-old has been part of the senior side in the current campaign. However, the forward has not been given many opportunities since Erik ten Hag’s arrival.
Pellistri made his long-awaited United debut in our previous fixture against Charlton Athletic in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. He came on as a substitute in the 84th minute and provided an assist for Marcus Rashford’s first goal in the 3-0 win.
The Uruguayan has a lot of competition in the squad. He usually plays out wide where the Red Devils already have an abundance of talent. Antony, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho all seem to be ahead of the South American in the pecking order.

Thus, considering the 21-year-old’s lack of opportunities at the Old Trafford side, it seems wise for the club to let him leave on loan. Watford are an established English side competing to get into the PL. Thus, the forward could gain a lot if he is given a chance at Watford.
