Erik ten Hag does not want to “force” Jadon Sancho back into the Manchester United team

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful about Jadon Sancho returning but does not want to “force” the forward into the team. The Dutch manager is optimistic about the 22-year-old returning to play for the club.

The England international had gone on an individual training programme to the Netherlands during the mid-season break. While the winger has returned to Carrington, he has still not been integrated into first-team sessions.

Speaking to the media via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Ten Hag is being patient with Sancho. The gaffer does not want to rush the forward into the team.

“Football players aren’t robots. He is back in Carrington and that shows he is making progress and he is ready for the next step.

“I would like to have Jadon back as soon as possible. But some processes you can’t force – and this is one of them.”

The 22-year-old joined United in the summer of 2021 from Borussia Dortmund. At the Bundesliga outfit, he developed into one of the finest forwards in Germany.

Unfortunately, the England international has been unable to replicate that form in Manchester. His debut campaign with the Old Trafford side was rather underwhelming.

Last season, Sancho made 38 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. He managed to score just five goals and provided three assists.

With the arrival of Ten Hag, most of our forwards seem to have regained their confidence. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have found their feet under the Dutch manager and are performing well.

The former BVB star also performed well at the start of the season. However, the 22-year-old has not made a considerable impact in the recent fixtures he has played in.

Sancho last played for United in the draw against Chelsea in the Premier League. Since October 2022, the forward has not played for us. Hopefully, the 22-year-old resolves the problems he has been facing and returns to the best version of the player who shone in Germany.
