Manchester United ‘considered’ recalling Dean Henderson from Nottingham Forest loan
Manchester United ‘considered’ recalling Dean Henderson from his loan at Nottingham Forest to add depth to the goalkeeping department, according to talkSPORT (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 25-year-old was seen as an option to replace Martin Dubravka in the Red Devils’ squad. Newcastle United cut short the Slovakia international’s temporary move to the Old Trafford side this month.
However, now, instead of recalling the shot-stopper from the Tricky Trees, the Manchester-based club are eyeing Crystal Palace star Jack Butland. We are in talks to bring the 29-year-old to the Theatre of Dreams on loan.

Henderson joined Steve Cooper’s team in the previous transfer window. Subsequently, Man United got Dubravka on deadline day in the summer of 2022 to replace the England international.
The 25-year-old came up through the youth ranks at the Old Trafford side. After an impressive spell at Sheffield United, the Red Devils opted to integrate him into the first-team setup.
In the 2020/21 season, Henderson constantly rotated with David de Gea in between the sticks. The 32-year-old was not having the best of times in Manchester. As a result, the England international was seen as the Spaniard’s successor.
However, in the previous campaign, the former Atletico Madrid star regained his place in Man United’s starting lineup. Subsequently, the 25-year-old saw his game time at the club dwindle.
Henderson did not feature in the Premier League last season. However, at Forest so far, he has made 18 appearances in all competitions, keeping five clean sheets.

The 25-year-old is enjoying regular minutes on the pitch with the Tricky Trees. It would not have been wise to hamper the England international’s development in West Bridgford. Thus, the Old Trafford side should do the right thing and let the shot-stopper continue to play on loan for the rest of the campaign.
