Manchester United have ‘ruled out’ a move for AC Milan and France striker Olivier Giroud
AC Milan and France star Olivier Giroud has been ‘ruled out’ as a signing by Manchester United to bolster their attacking options, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils are looking to add a number nine to their ranks in the ongoing transfer window. Erik ten Hag has revealed that the Old Trafford side are looking for a new striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.
Just before the start of the 2022 World Cup, the 37-year-old parted ways with the Manchester-based club. As a result, the Dutch manager’s options up front have dwindled.
Anthony Martial is the only natural number nine in the squad at the moment. However, the 27-year-old has had his injury issues in the current campaign.
United are looking to get a player on a loan deal. The uncertainty around the club’s future sale has restricted the Red Devils from looking for short-term, temporary options.
But Giroud will not be moving to Manchester to make his way back to England. The 36-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season.
The France international has found significant success in Italy with Milan. He helped the Rossoneri lift the Serie A title in the previous campaign after an 11-year drought.
