Erik ten Hag admits Donny van de Beek injury “not looking very good” after Manchester United vs Bournemouth
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that the injury Donny van de Beek sustained against Bournemouth is “not looking very good”.
The Holland international collided with the Cherries’ Marcos Senesi towards the end of the first half. Subsequently, the 25-year-old was replaced with Alejandro Garancho.
Speaking after the fixture via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag stated that time was needed to know the full extent of the knock. However, the Dutch manager is concerned about the midfielder.
“We need to wait 24 hours. But it is not looking very good.”
Van de Beek was handed a rare start in the Premier League against the Vitality Stadium side at Old Trafford on Tuesday (3 January). The 25-year-old looked confident with his touches for most of the game. Unfortunately, the midfielder’s evening was cut short.
United opened the scoring through a set piece that Christian Eriksen took. Casemiro got on the end of it and successfully found the back of the net in the 23rd minute.
We went into the break with a one-goal advantage. And a quick start to the second half saw the Red Devils doubling their lead. Luke Shaw got on the end of a low cross from Garnacho and his striker was able to beat Mark Travers, who was in between the sticks for Gary O’Neil’s team.
The Old Trafford side created a few more chances. However, Bournemouth looked threatening for a period of the game. But David de Gea kept the Cherries at bay with some good saves.
United rounded off the fixture with a goal from Marcus Rashford. We have now won four games on the trot since the season’s restart after the 2022 World Cup.
