Sunderland youngster Chris Rigg is attracting interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United

Chris Rigg, who is currently part of Championship side Sunderland, is being eyed by Manchester United, according to The Sun (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Red Devils are ‘interested’ in signing the 15-year-old from the Black Cats. However, the Tyneside outfit’s bitter rivals, Newcastle United, are also monitoring the youngster.

It is the Magpies who are leading the race for the central midfielder. He has been rated as one of the best prospects in English football at the moment.

Eddie Howe’s team are currently flying high in the Premier League. They are currently third in the league table behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

Rigg is yet to make his first-team debut for Sunderland. He has mostly played for the Championship outfit’s youth sides. The 15-year-old has also captained England’s U16 team.

At Man United, a number of youngsters have broken since last season. Alejandro Garnacho has been one of the most promising players among our prospects. The 18-year-old has put in some crucial performances for the Red Devils in the current campaign.

Anthony Elanga has also been a key player for the Old Trafford side. The Sweden international broke into the first-team setup under Ralf Rangnick and has continued to play a part with the arrival of Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch manager developed a number of youngsters during his Ajax days. Antony and Lisandro Martinez are just two of the prospects that the gaffer had with him in Amsterdam. The duo have now reunited with the Ten Hag in Manchester and have thrived.

Man United have Amad Diallo on loan at Sunderland. The 20-year-old is thriving with the Black Cats. However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to use that as leverage to get Rigg.
