Manchester United ‘interested’ in signing 25-year-old Stade Rennais forward Martin Terrier
Manchester United are ‘interested’ in the signature of Stade Rennais star and France U21 international Martin Terrier, according to Media Foot (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are looking to sign the 25-year-old in the upcoming transfer window. However, for January, the Old Trafford side are looking to get players on loan.
Terrier has been in fine form for the Ligue 1 outfit in the current campaign. The forward was valued at £34 million in the summer of 2022 but will cost much more now.
Apart from the Manchester-based club, Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing the French national. However, Spurs already have a stacked front line at the moment with the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.
The 25-year-old signed for the Red and Blacks in the summer of 2020. However, it took him a season to settle in at his new club after moving from Olympique Lyon.
After impressing in the previous campaign, Terrier has continued to put in decent performances. Last season, the 25-year-old scored 21 goals in 37 Ligue 1 outings. This term, the forward has found the back of the net 11 times in 20 appearances in all competitions.
United’s attack has lost depth with the untimely exit of Cristiano Ronaldo. Now, Erik ten Hag only has Anthony Martial as the lone natural number nine in the squad.
However, Marcus Rashford has also done a decent job upfront. The 25-year-old is currently the leading goalscorer for the Red Devils this season.
