Erik ten Hag will decide on Manchester United future of Dean Henderson at the end of the season
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will decide on the future of out-on-loan Manchester United star Dean Henderson at the end of the season. The Dutch manager has been impressed with the 25-year-old’s performances at Nottingham Forest.
The England international left the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 and joined the Tricky Trees on a temporary deal. His current contract at the Old Trafford side expires in the summer of 2025.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News ahead of United’s game against Steve Cooper’s team, Ten Hag revealed that the club would make a decision on Henderson’s future at the end of the campaign.
“No, I wouldn’t give that decision already now. I think he is on a loan for one season. During the season, when the season is coming to an end, we will take a decision and that depends on a lot of factors. He is playing really well at Nottingham Forest.”
The Red Devils will take on Forest on Tuesday (27 December) at home in the Premier League. It is our first English top-flight game back after the 2022 World Cup break.
We are currently fifth in the league table, four points behind Tottenham Hotspur. However, the Old Trafford side have two games in hand over Spurs.

However, in the previous term, the 25-year-old hardly got any game time. That was evidently partly down to the 32-year-old’s form in between the sticks for us.
Under Erik ten Hag, the former Atletico Madrid star has a shaky start to the campaign. However, in recent months, the shot-stopper has been brilliant for the Red Devils.

The Dutch manager is apparently looking to involve the goalkeeper in the build-up play. However, De Gea leaves a lot to be desired in that department. Thus, it remains to be seen whether the club will decide to replace the Spaniard with Henderson next season.
