Mikael Silvestre warns Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag not to take the Carabao Cup lightly
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been warned not to take the Carabao Cup lightly as the Red Devils take on Burnley next. We will take on the Clarets on in the fourth round of the tournament on Wednesday (21 December) at home.
The Old Trafford side took on Aston Villa in the previous round. We beat the Lions 4-2 after a brilliant cameo from Alejandro Garnacho from the bench. The Argentine provided two assists coming on as a substitute.
Speaking to bettingexpert (h/t Metro), Silvestre, who won several titles during his nine-year spell at United, has urged Ten Hag to try and win the domestic cup or any other silverware.
“United should try and win all competitions. To build success you have to start somewhere. Whether it is the Carabao cup, the league or Europa League. Take advantage of an opportunity to win a trophy.”
The Red Devils have had a relatively barren spell in terms of trophies since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. We last won the Premier League title in 2013, the Scottish gaffer’s last season in charge of the Old Trafford side.
United have won a few domestic and European titles. However, they were nothing major. The Red Devils won the FA Cup in the 2015/16 campaign under the former Dutch head coach Louis van Gaal.
Subsequently, 2017 was one of our most successful periods in recent times. With Jose Mourinho in charge of the Old Trafford side, we lifted the EFL Cup and Europa League, our last trophy.
Since then, United have struggled to challenge for any major title. We also saw the departure of the Portuguese head coach for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While the Norwegian head coach managed to stabilise us, it never looked like we would get our hands on a title.
In the previous campaign, Ole was sacked and replaced by Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis. However, at the end of last season, Ten Hag took the reins of the Red Devils.

The Old Trafford side have put in some promising displays under the former Ajax head coach. Hopefully, the Dutch manager is able to take us back to the top in the coming future.
