Transfer News: Leeds United are interested in Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka
According to 90min (h/t Leeds Live), Leeds United have joined the race to sign Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The 25-year-old has fallen drastically down the pecking order at the club.
Bought in 2019 from Crystal Palace for £50 million, the 25-year-old was a preferred choice at the right side under former coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, with Erik ten Hag at the helm, things have changed.
The Dutchman prefers Portuguese star Diogo Dalot to start in his playing eleven, and the 23-year-old has not disappointed so far. He has been one of our best players this season, starting in all but one game so far.
It is understood that Wan-Bissaka has no future at the club and is free to pursue other options either in England or abroad. The 25-year-old has only made one appearance this season, coming off the bench during our 2-1 win over Liverpool, back in August.
United wants that right-back to leave on loan with a view to make it permanent next summer. The 25-year-old sees his current contract expire in 2024 and now would be the best time to cash in on a player we paid so much for, three years back.
Leeds have been struggling this season, currently sitting 15th on the table. Their first-choice right-back Stuart Dallas is injured, leaving Rasmus Kristensen as the only preferred choice on the right side of the defence.
However, the Whites are
not alone in their pursuit, with rival clubs like West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers also interested in the United defender, with Wolves believed to be leading the race.Wan-Bissaka has options to choose from and he will be wise to do so. Just 25, he still has a long career ahead of him and it would be unwise to waste a year or more sitting on the United bench when he could be playing elsewhere.

It remains to be seen where the out of favour right-back ends up in the January transfer window. With just one appearance across competitions this season, Wan-Bissaka’s time may really be over at Old Trafford.
