Al Sadd, a club from Qatar, are considering making an offer for Portugal and former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Spanish outlet Diario AS via MEMO (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The side from the Middle East are structuring an offer for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. The Qatari outfit’s domestic rivals Al Rayyan are also one of the clubs interested in the 37-year-old’s signature.

At the moment, Ronaldo has several offers on the table from Saudi Arabia. However, the striker has stated that he has yet to agree on a move to any club since the Red Devils mutually terminated the superstar’s contract.

The Portugal international parted ways with the Old Trafford side just before the start of the World Cup. His controversial interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan signalled the end of his second spell in Manchester.

The former Real Madrid star returned to United from Juventus in the summer of 2021. He previously left the Red Devils in 2009 to move to the Spanish capital.

Ronaldo’s first season back was fruitful for him. The 37-year-old ended the previous campaign as the club’s leading goalscorer, with 24 goals in all competitions. However, the Old Trafford side struggled to challenge for titles and missed out on Champions League football.

United appointed Erik ten Hag as the new manager for the 2022/23 season. The Dutch manager’s arrival saw the Portuguese icon’s influence in the team dwindle. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner became a bit-part player in Manchester.

At the 2022 World Cup, Ronaldo did not have a fruitful time either. Fernando Santos dropped the 37-year-old from the starting XI and replaced him with SL Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos. In the end, Portugal crashed out of the prestigious competition after losing to Morocco in the quarter-finals.

Ronaldo’s career is at its final stages. However, the forward still seems to have a few years at a decent European club in him. While the superstar’s end at United was inevitable after his interview, it will be sad to see him move to a club like Al Sadd at this moment.
